Talking About My 4 Day Trip To Mount Athos
Hello people!
I returned to this world yesterday.I say “this world” because the “Mount Athos” is like a different world.No noise,no people,only monks and some visitors,no buildings only monasteries,no cars,no pollution,full of trees and beautiful places.
It was a very strange feeling when we arrived at the first monastery.Some monks even offered help when they saw us.They gave us “λουκούμια” to eat,brought us water even made us coffee.They all were kind.They make their own food,clean,help each other.I haven’t heard them talk about other things than “God”,”Jesus” or Christianity etc.They all have dedicated their lives to “God”!I’m 10000000000000000% against that!It’s *&#%@*!! to waste your life in something just because you BELIEVE it’s true.There are better ways to LIVE!I didn’t want to discuss that kind of topics with them.The most of them are 30-70 year old.Trying to discuss such a topic with someone who believes for more than 30 years in something and telling him that his whole life may be based on a lie,it’s like killing him.So I didn’t start such a topic….But……The 3rd day,we were talking with a abbot of a monastery.He was so absolute about Orthodox Christianity that I wanted to throw the chair at his head.He said that Christianity is based on Love and it unites people,then he said that he doesn’t like people from other religions!…..Yeah he is right,Christianity is based on Love,that’s why he doesn’t like people believing in something else,and yes he is right again,Christianity unites people,it actually unites only Christians,so it unites 2 billions people and divides them from the rest 6 billion…But he didn’t stop,he was talking and talking and talking………..and talking and the others like sheep were agreeing on everything,until I interrupted him and asked him
-How can you be so sure that Orthodox Christianity is the only truth religion and that the others religions are wrong?
-Because we have proof.
-O.o?……What proof?
-Many proofs.
-Tell me one.
-There are people when they are in a hospital while their body is dead for some seconds they see a very bright light and then a saint saves them and they come back to life.
-The very bright light can be explained with the lack of oxygen in the brain,when this happens our mind goes crazy and start imagining things just like dreaming.About the saint it depends on your belief,if you are Christians you will see a saint of Christianity if you are Buddhist,Muslim,Hindu etc. probably you will see a saint of your religion.Not only Christian have experienced this.So what makes you believe this is proof for Christianity?
He started talking about other things until I interrupted him again.
-You didn’t answer my question.How can you be so sure that Orthodox Christianity is the only truth religion
-Because Orthodox Christianity is the only divine religion.All the other religions are creations of Satan.
When he said that I wanted to throw the chair,the table,my cellphone,books,my shoes,my pen at his head!!!OK!You believe in Christianity but don’t be so absolute about it and don’t insult other people,it’s just your belief!
I didn’t answer.No reason.
People don’t need religion.Maybe “weak” people need religion like a “crutch”.
